Established on 10th October 1984 as the Institute of Road and Transport Technology (IRTT) by the State Transport Undertakings, the college was transferred in 2021 directly under the governance of the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Higher Education Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
Located on an expansive 200-acre lush green campus along the Salem-Kochi Highway (NH-47) between Chithode and Bhavani, the Institute provides state-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure, smart classrooms, AI & prototyping centers, and highly qualified doctoral faculty.
The institution proudly functions as the Zonal Headquarters for Zone-XI (Erode Zone) of Anna University, Chennai, monitoring examinations and academic compliance across Erode, Namakkal, Tiruppur, and Salem districts.
